I So Talented!

I've spent several weeks (on and off) and a lot of trips back to Michael's to get more yarn in order to make... a crochet tank top! It is made of cotton yarn (Sugar & Cream) in violet and violet/blue/yellow/cream variegated. It took something like 8 or 9 balls.

Iran: What's Happening?

I don't usually follow international politics except as it pertains to the U.S. (and, by extension, myself). But this election in Iran has got me intrigued. Since the regular media has taken the weekend off and there's been almost no coverage, let me do a quick summary (as I understand it). Ahmedinejad (or, as Joy Behar calls him, I'madinnerjacket) has been the president, and there were a bunch of guys running against him, including this Mousavi guy. And Mousavi was supported mainly by young people, and there are a shitton of young people in Iran (60% of the population is under 40), so they figured he'd win. His poll numbers leading up to Friday's election were huge. But then Dinner Jacket wins by some huge amount, which doesn't make any sense. He even wins the region that Mousavi is from, and that region always, always goes for the guy that's from there. They're very territorial like that. So everyone figures it's fraud, and it sure sounds like that to me.

Oh, My Formative Years!

On Monday, the girlfriend and I were talking about what we were like in school, and the various teachers we had, and I mentioned to her that in fourth grade I had written a "Just Say No"-type play based on a TV special that had been on.

And yesterday, I found it. (This is just part one, of course.)

Want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on something that you then have to hand-crank in order to make it work? Want that something to be a vibrator?

Everything Looks Better In Tilt-Shift.

I'm not feeling very wordy today, but wanted to share this cool toy that I found via Andrew Sullivan. The Tilt-Shift Maker turns any photo into what looks like a scale model -- like a village in a model train set. It's also got the effect of making a "meh" photo look pretty cool. Like the ones above, from last year's summer vacation to Virginia Beach.
